About

Impractical, irresponsible, overly sensitive, too mature/immature, too loud/quiet, soft, opinionated, bossy, shy, reckless, aloof, "pick me", disagreeable. Frivolous. My interests + approach to life have had a long list of uninspiring (and contradictory) adjectives attached to them. Even my name, and preference to go by that name, is off-putting. Mary-Ryan. You can't pick one? How utterly indulgent and self-important.

I kept certain aspects at bay until I examined the  "correct" way to live with curiosity. Through that new understanding, the criticism made sense. And it made me want to try to lean in to softness with intention and humor.

I love the little things and of course, the luxurious things. I do not pitch living in pity and boastful sacrifice, nor do I agree with gluttonous displays of consumption. I celebrate the natural world, learning, and taking my time as often as I'm able. My strongest inspiration comes from the beauty of nature, my dog (and more generally, animal-human bonding), genuine interactions from my travels + homes across numerous countries & states, the ornate, the ridiculed, authentic personalities, statement pieces, and highly-niche, shared interests.

I am an olive oil enthusiast and drink several pots of various herbal teas each day. I worked in farming and have a deep respect and gratitude for small-scale famers. I have a lifelong obnoxious relationship with food that I try not to discuss. I listen to music with lyrics they don't allow in my Pilates classes. I've foam rolled almost daily for over ten years and weight trained since I was fourteen. I spend as much time outdoors as possible.

I believe in love and kindness as well as sticking up for your beliefs with equal and opposite force. Celebrating softness with Frivolous Miss does not mean gleeful betrayal of self. It's crucial to maintain balance with an edge and an intelligently bold, bytchi mouth. It is not a popular life approach and is therefore met with much disgust and disdain. Proceed with caution, levity,  and cvntylittlequips!

I do so in two languages, as I speak Spanish fluently. I'll never forget the grace extended to me by the Spanish when I lived in their country. Thank you. I love language learning (yes, I wish I knew more) and art history; it brought me into the worlds of symbolism, mystery, rebellion, escapism,  architecture, woodworking, and even politics. I feel physically different in intentional, balanced, and beautiful spaces, which resulted in a lifelong passion for creating my own. Now I help others find their vision, bringing their interiors and gardens to life. But most of my artistic time these days is spent creating nature-inspired prints and patterns for textiles, wall coverings, and personal collections.
